The Emperor Jade Pagoda (Chua Ngoc Hoang or Phuoc Hai Tu) is located at 73 Mai Thi Luu Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Ngoc Hoang Pagoda was built in 1909 by a community of Cantonese who migrated from Guangzhou province in Southwest China.
The pagoda is about 2,300 m2. This pagoda is also known as the Tortoise Pagoda. The Jade Emperor Pagoda is one of the most attractive pagodas in the city. The pagoda houses numerous statues and delicate woodcarvings with intricate tiles on the roof.

Jade Emperor Pagoda is an ancient pagoda, following a Chinese temple style with brilliant motifs. The pagoda is built with bricks, the roof is covered with yin and yang tiles, the roof is decorated, the angle of the roof is made of many colored ceramic statues. Inside the pagoda there are many worksart: paintings of worship, statues of worshiping, incense ... with materials such as: wood, pottery, paper.

An outer courtyard is filled with lotus ponds and bamboo bird cages, two fish and turtle pools, and Ho Phap temple- the names of the two colossal statues guarding the main gate of a pagoda. The pagoda has about 300 statues .

Every day, foreigners and domestic visitors come to see the pagoda very crowded. The biggest festival is Vía Ngọc Hoàng which takes place on 9th January (Lunar calendar) every year, which is said to be the birth of the Jade Emperor. On 15th October 1994, Ngoc Hoang Pagoda was recognized as a national artistic architectural monument.
