SAI GON ZOO

Saigon Zoo is not only a historical vestige but also a symbol of Ho Chi Minh City's unique culture. It was built at the same time of Ho Chi Minh Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and Ben Thanh Market.

Saigon Zoo was built on 23 March 1864 with the first name is Botanic Garden. In 1865, the project was completed with many kinds of animals and rare plants imported from neighboring countries such as India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia ... and expanded to 20ha. Saigon people at that time used to call Saigon Zoo as the Zoo and this name we also use until today.

How to come there ?

Saigon Zoo is located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City - 2 Nguyen Binh Khiem, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, HCMC. You can easily reach by motorbike, car or bus.

If you are riding a motorbike, you can go to the zoo by two ways: Nguyen Binh Khiem (main gate) and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. These 2 gates have motorbike parking place.
If you go by car, go to Nguyen Binh Khiem Street (secondary gate) and parking the car at the secondary gate.
If you travel by bus, you can go to the zoo at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai or get off at Le Duan Street and walk to the main gate on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street.

Electric trains can be used to explore the entire of Saigon Zoo. Electric trains tickets are sold near the ticket gate at Le Duan Street.

Children's Zoo is a favorite place for children. You can give goats, lambs to eat grass, leaves ... through the fence.

On Saturdays and Sundays, from 9.30am to 10.00am, and on Lunar New Year, from 10h00 to 10h30, children's zoos will be opened free for children to visit, play with goats and lambs, For goats and lambs to eat directly. They can cuddle and play with these gentle animals.

At 15:00 daily at the lion farm, Indochinese Tiger and Bengal White Tiger, you can watch how the animals eat. Wildlife food will be hung up to force animals to jump, climb, ... to get food, to maintain their wild behavior . Especially on Tuesdays, these animals will be feed by rabbits to maintain their habit of hunting.

There are 2 shows free for visitors: elephant performances and musical performances.

+ Elephant show: takes place at the elephant farm on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 9h00-9h30. For the occasion of the Lunar New Year, there will be an additional performance in the afternoon, from 14h00 to 14h30.

+ Music performance: musical performances, circus, magic ... takes place at the main stage of the Saigon Zoo on Saturday, Sunday from 10h00-12h00. Sunday is one more performance in the afternoon, from 16h00 to 18h00.
